Imagined by the designer Yinka llori, Colorama was created thanks to the support of the Decathlon Foundation and the complicity of the Decathlon Skateboarding teams.
Installed in the former wool storage hall of the Condition Publique, this indoor skatepark is becoming a unique place to skate, mixing sport and street art. This project saw the light of day within the scope of Lille World Design Capital 2020, Africa 2020 with the French Institute and the Next Generation(s) urban art programme.
Two classes of 9th and 10th graders from the Lycée professionnel Saint Rémi in Roubaix, took part in the construction of the skatepark. After a meeting between the students, the artist and the technical coordinator, they were given the task of building the base of one of the modules. The construction team of the Condition Publique then took over the design and assembly of the other modules. "The children came to help us build and paint, it was great to have their input and I think there are future designers and makers here as well" Yinka Ilori
Two apprentices in BPJEPS / APT (Physical Activities for All) trainings are also being recruited to supervise the skatepark. They are being accompanied by the Roubaix-based sports association Parkour 59.
The people of the North Skateboarding Movement association also contributed greatly to the skatability of Colorama, sharing their skating expertise with the artist and the construction teams.

While the skatepark is open on a regular basis, events are also scheduled throughout the year. From skateboarding to parkour, young and old can try their hand at skateboarding during workshops, competitions and artistic events.

La Condition Publique, a cultural institution anchored in the working-class district of Le Pile in Roubaix, defines itself as a creative laboratory. A place where artists, culture and all creative actors confront social, urban and environmental challenges. All its actions are based on the conviction that creativity, in all its forms, is a real lever for a territory in transition.
The Decathlon Foundation's mission is to make the pleasure and benefits of sports accessible to as many people as possible, particularly those in vulnerable situations. They are operating these projects with the local involvement and empowerment of the local community in mind.
Through the financing of sustainable investment expenses (renovation of a sports field, financing of sports equipment or training in sports professions, etc.), the Foundation's ambition is to have a strong, real and measurable local impact. The Decathlon Foundation believe in human encounters and is creating links between the associations, the beneficiaries and the teammates.
