News boards DK 500 in collaboration with Thomas Lateur

Thomas is an artist from Lyon, a long time skateboarder as skilled with his feet as with his hands. In parallel to his artistic career, he worked part-time as a salesman in the skateboard department of a Decathlon store in Lyon. Thomas contacted the Decathlon Skateboarding team to become a brand ambassador. Ambassadors are people who work at Decathlon to whom we send gear and who we involve in the development process of skateboarding products if they wish.

Thomas told us about his artistic projects after hearing about the Skatepark project at the Condition Publique in collaboration with the artist Yinka Ilori. We were immediately excited by Thomas's graphic universe, it quickly became obvious that there was something to do together. We decided to give Thomas carte blanche on the design of the new DK 500 skateboards.

TOMALATER

Graphic designer, muralist, typographer, skateboarder, this man has a ruler and a compass in his hands and palm trees in his head. Influenced by architecture and modular games, his abstract paintings play with perspectives. They are an opportunity to test assemblies and overlapping shapes, where lightness and fun prevail over a strict geometric grid.

Our artistic collaborations

It is also one Thomas who takes care of the art direction in the team. He designs most of our skateboards and longboards and supervises projects in collaboration with other artists. Every year we work in collaboration with friends and artists who are involved in the skateboard world. Last year it was with Wip that we worked on a series of boards in a nod to the arrival of skateboarding at the Olympics.

✅ 7-ply of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified Canadian maple. This certification ensures that the forest is managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring its economic viability.

✅ Very good quality and longevity of the pop (Henkel glue 💪)

✅ Only one board per mold (single deck press) to get the same shape every time

The DK 500 is available in 5 sizes: 7,75" / 8" / 8,25" / 8,5" / 8,75"
